Right, wrong, and everything in-between. If you believe AI will change everything or that nothing will change, it doesn’t matter. Everyone has a point of view about it but nobody has figured out a way of using it transparently. Chat Notes is a simple way to add transparency to the process.

There are many ways to use ChatGPT and all the other cool AI tools, but when it comes to embed it in our written work, it gets awkward. How do we do it? Do we add a note? A different text colour? We just avoid mentioning altogether? Just like footnotes became a standard to reference others’ work in your own, we believe ChatNotes could be a first step towards a standard to include AI-written work in ours too.

Large language models became publicly available almost overnight. Not everybody has the knowledge required to understand it, forget about identifying it in a piece of text. We believe that by creating the tools to level the field, we are moving towards a more inclusive and accessible reality, where technology works for us, and not the opposite.

In this context we use the general acronym for artificial intelligence to indicate Large Language Models, such as GPT (the engine that powers Chat-GPT), but in reality AI is much more than that.
